Welcome
This website brings together the different strands of my work as a trauma therapist, teacher and supervisor. Whether you are looking for individual support, Somatic Experiencing® sessions or supervision, or would like to discover my work with 5Rhythms® and Shiatsu, I invite you to explore and find what resonates with you.
Who is Chris?
Chris is a trauma therapist, teacher and supervisor with a deep interest in the connection between body, mind and lived experience. In his therapeutic work, he offers a warm and grounded space where people can slow down, reconnect with themselves and explore what supports healing and change. His approach is strongly informed by Somatic Experiencing®, in which he is currently a senior assistant, and he offers both credited personal sessions and individual or group supervision.
Alongside his work as a therapist, Chris teaches 5Rhythms® internationally and is accredited at both the Waves and Heartbeat levels. He also teaches postgraduate Shiatsu trainings in Belgium. He is the director of Trauma Healing Belgium, an organization dedicated to Somatic Experiencing trainings and related approaches. Although these different paths each have their own focus, they are connected by the same heartfelt intention: helping people develop a deeper relationship with themselves, their bodies and their capacity for growth.
ACTIVITES
5Rhythms®
I teach 5Rhythms® classes in Leuven, Antwerp and Hasselt, as well as workshops internationally. My teaching weaves together movement, embodiment and somatic exercises, creating space for greater awareness, connection and aliveness. I am particularly passionate about Heartbeat work, which explores how we can meet, move with and deepen our relationship with our emotions—supporting emotional growth, healing and greater freedom.

Shiatsu
I previously taught the four-year Zen Shiatsu training and now focus on postgraduate workshops and guest classes for students in the final year of their Shiatsu education. My most popular postgraduate workshops are Shiatsu and Trauma, exploring trauma-sensitive and body-oriented approaches to touch, and Structural Shiatsu, focusing on the relationship between structure, movement and balance in the body.

Body-oriented Therapy
My work as a body-oriented therapist is informed by training in Dance Movement Therapy, Gestalt Awareness Practice and Voice Dialogue, as well as a background in Body-Mind Centering®. Today, I work mainly through the lens of Somatic Experiencing®, where I am currently a senior assistant. I support people in working with trauma through greater awareness of the body, the nervous system and the inner resources that can help restore safety and connection.
My postgraduate focus has included developmental and attachment trauma, transgenerational patterns, emotional trauma, complex syndromes, near-death experiences, out-of-body experiences and altered states of consciousness. I offer sessions in person at my group practice and online. Learn more at deondersteuning.be
Supervision
Supervision supports you in bringing the principles of Somatic Experiencing® more fully into practice. It offers space to reflect on client work, deepen your understanding of the nervous system, refine your interventions and grow in confidence as a practitioner. Group supervision adds the richness of learning from other people’s questions, experiences and perspectives within a supportive environment.
As a senior assistant, I offer individual supervision and small-group supervision for up to three people. I also facilitate group supervision for groups of up to twelve participants who are currently enrolled in the Somatic Experiencing® training.
